Is radio been replace by TV/Internet? agree/disagree
Radio broadcast has been the prime source of entertainment during late 1950's
and early 60's. Listeners were served with a variety of radio documentries,
short voice drama's, educational programmes and most importantll new's broadcast.
All these changed with the television becoming a house hold device in North America
and much of Europe. Passive listening of raido programmes given way to active
viewing of Television programmes. This was a welcome development for all the
enthrallers who have never experienced the realm of active viewing and listening.
The greatest advantage of radio programme where the listeners can tune to it
while attending to their daily chores, has been its biggest pitfall also.
Viewers, who were used to listening were now able to enjoy the visual experience.
Consequently a wide mass of people graduated to the experience of visual media,
Television.
Some of the areas where radio services can never match with Television,
in terms of quality and perspection are, live telecast of sporting events,
video coverage of global incidents and live educational programmes.
This have driven away a lion share of radio users to telecasted programmes.
Almost two decades ago, having floated as an idea and later a realisation in the
campuses of USA, internet revolution has taken up the techno world like a
whirlwind. The simple and free spirit of Internet was embraced by technocrats
as well as general population.
Internet has definite advantages over the Telecasted programmes or radio broadcast
The televised or radioed programmes are live and the choice is more or less at the
disposal of the Channel owners or programme designers. Internet has quashed the very
right idea of a broadcaster choice and put the control back into the audience or users.
Users will have the choice and freedom to select what they need. Moreover users will
able to download any programme, irrespective of the time.
Fields like medicine and education, entertainment has been immensly helped with the
advances in Internet. Recent reports in a medical journal shows that doctors were able
to perform emergency surgeries on an individual, with the help of local medical practioners,
who were not well trained in complex surgeries.
Gone are the days were you missed a programme due to your busy schedule. Internet has made
possible to replay the programme of your choice at any time.
Scholars or Academecians can exchange their ideas through the common media of Internet.
So the idea of store, recollect, produce and distribute has enabled Internet to rival any
media of entertainment or communication, be it radio or any other media.
Hence evenif we feel nolstagic about the good old days of radio listening, TV and Internet
has surely influenced and changed the entertainment habits of the current generation.
