Re: Albania Standards of Living
Thank you for your help. To be clear though this was for my anthropology coarse. I had completed my essay a very long time ago. I had printed it out and had asked peers to correct my grammar. I thought it would be a good idea to post it here just to get a second opinion (after all worth 15%). I admit though it was overwhelming to have someone tell me that it was no good. The essay was due the next day, and I took the rest of my day to redo the essay the best way I can.
It is not that I do not want to write a decent essay, but from current experience I do know how. This is my first essay, and worse yet it had to be 1000 words about a country I essentially didn't even know existed till now. It's not your job to educate me on my essay writing skills, so my lack of knowledge could hardly be blamed on the forum. Thank you for your help, and I learned a lot from your comments.
The third suggestion I read about the outline was helpful, but it was already too late. I looked at the website you provided, and a lot of the information was not about the current Albanian living condition. I guess that's my fault for not providing more information on my assignment. Hopefully next time I have an assignment, I'll ask for help here sooner so I have time to perfect my writing by the members here.
Oh oh and what does "r" mean?
Cheers,
Frank John Li

Agreed. I think it's a good effort, Frank! Just try to cover fewer details of the topic in a short essay, and organize them as Anne suggests.

Right, except he writes in his last post that he needs 1000 words. (I would shoot for about 4 pages to hit 1000 words.)
That is a problem of a different sort, and certainly not what I thought the first (or second) essay was trying to do.
The topic itself sounds like a kind of challenge, like a proverbial topic that no one has ever heard of or something: "Oh yeah? Well, what's that compared to the standard of living in Albania?"
For a 1000-word essay on a non-topic like this, the second paper sounds much better -- at least most of it sounds like it is hitting the assignment. I hope it is the second one the asker turned in, and I'd love to get some feedback about how the professor evaluated it.

Re: Albania Standards of Living
Knowledge/Understanding: 14/20 (some points don't relate)
Thinking: 11/15 (not a strong conclusion)
Application: 18/20 (never use "I" "we" etc in a formal essay
Communication: 12/20 (some errors in writing)
Overall: 55/75.
Thank you all again for your help.
