Disadvantages and Advantages Paper

Hey, I was given a paper topic to write that I thought was very interesting....it is the disadvantages and advantages of studying abroad. I know I must research the topic beforehand which I will do. My question however is can you put your own opinion into the essay even in your first paragraph? Also do u have any tips on starting the essay with this topic? I have some ideas but I would like other tips! Thank you so much!:-D

Do you know somebody who has studied abroad? If so, perhaps you can talk to them about the good points and the bad points. Also, there have already been a couple of essays on that subject posted in this section.
