How could I use a word or phrase express...?

I would like to find a word or phrase to express the meaning as:

to use various methods to solve a problem. For example, to apply several remedies to a patient.

How could I express it? Need help!

I can't think of a simple, everyday word for that situation. Multilateral is the word I'd use if I were addressing an audience of professionals. I would call it a multilateral treatment plan or course of action. Otherwise, I'd just explain the situation like you did.
