It is a well-known fact that our basic needs are very simple – a roof over your head, food, and clothing. But our individual additional wants are fairly complicated. According to our basic needs and individual wants, we need various kinds of commodities that satisfy our wants in different ways. The ability of a commodity to satisfy wants is defined as its utility by economists. Economists also say that utility determines “the relationship between a consumer and a commodity”. A consumer cannot generally change the prices of the goods he wants to purchase. These prices are fixed in advanced, which makes it impossible to bargain over them . When planning our expenditures, we should accept these prices as an entity. Being a smart consumer and taking rational decisions is never easy. A wide range/variety of types, sizes, advertising gimmicks influences us when shopping and acting as a buyer. To always get a good deal on every puchase you make , you have to master Economics. A profound knowledge of Economics can last a lifetime. A lot of factors influence our decisions about making a purchase. Smart consumers should obtain all product information available, compare and evaluate this information and be also quite sure that the higher the quality, the higher the price.
