Default Short excerpts of my letter

Hello everyone! Could you correct the following excerpts of my letter pls?

1. I know that you don't like Moscow's atmosphere on account of your father's death here but I suggest you get rid of these fears of yours and visit Moscow some day.

2. As you know, the Russians don't celebrate a European Christmas. We just watch TV to see how the celebration is going on.

3. ....Though I'm not a huge fan of art. If I'm asked to join someone to visit a museum I usually agree to come with them. I like taking my own photos and consider some of my pics to be art. A load of my pics are just great.

4. Writing letters to you is often very relaxing. Often because, as you know, I'm sometimes tired when I'm writing to you.

Could you please explain to me the difference between the following sentences?
-I'm sometimes tired when I'm writing to you.
-I'm sometimes tired when writing to you.
-I'm sometimes tired when I write you.

5. It really pisses me off when someone distracts me from what I'm doing. It's hard to concentrate on what you were doing after being distracted.

6. I'm going to be very busy in the coming days. I'm taking four exams in January. These are Philosophy, Economics, Maths, and Russian History. I'm planning to start preparing tomorrow (January 3). I don't think I'll have much spare time, so you'll know if I'm slow to answer.

7. My holidays start on January, 22 and finish on either February 6 or February 13.

My holidays start on January, 22 and finish either on February 6 or February 13.

Is there any difference between the constructions in bold?

Thanks

1- I'd say the atmosphere of/in Moscow
2- to see the what the celebrations are like
3- I'd use 'go with them'
4- Not much difference really. The progressive might add a little emphasis
5- I'd probably use the present tense not the past as this is a general truth
7- Putting 'either' first places more emphasis on the fact that there are two possibilities

Thanks, tdol!

Are you sure that I should use the before what? I've never seen the before what. At least, in sentences like this
