Alex was teaching his sister how to do home chores. He told his sister that he will not be doing everything the whole time/the entire time when he's home because he wants to give his sister a chance to learn. He wants them to take turn in doing it, by doing that his sister will not be overwhelmed by the size/amount of the workload and she can learn everything at the appropriate pace.
