In a meta-analytic study on the physician’s preferences for information sources, physicians were found out to prefer to obtain information from journals and medical books and often consult colleagues for information. Generalizing from these findings is limited not only by small number of studies evaluated but also by the selection of only population from the USA and Canada.
A slight different result was noted in a literatures review done in Netherlands on the analysis of the use of information sources by family physicians for practical and theoretical reasons. The literatures selected were published in English or Dutch from 1975 to 1992. From the 11 publications evaluated, the family physicians claimed to use colleagues as the most important source of information followed by journals and books. The results of this study were only base on the family physicians, the result might be different if the same study done in doctors with different specialties.
medical books and often consult- the use of 'and' here is a bit dodgy for me as you have used 'prefer' in the first- how about 'but/but also?
not only by small number of studies- I'd say the small number
only population- population only
literatures review- I'd use literature
only base on the family physicians, the result - only based on family physicians; the results
study done- were done
How about these?
..physicians were found out to prefer to obtain information from journals and medical books more than consult colleagues for information
Generalizing from these findings is limited by the small number of studies evaluated and also by the selection of population only from the USA and Canada.
