Talking Capital Punishment

WITHOUT CAPITAL PUNISHMENT OUR LIVES ARE LESS SECURE AND CRIMES OR VIOLENCE INCREASE. TO WHAT EXTENT DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH THIS OPINION?

"In some countries of the world nowadays the capital punishment is the maximum pain for the people who commit very grave crimes; in many other countries this punishment is given even when the felony is not such to justify it.

To the first group belong, among the others, the USA in which the capital pain is a common instrument in some of its states that use this punishment for the most mischievous felonies. In the case of the USA it is well known like such an instrument for fighting the crime and the violence has not produced so far a sensible reduction in the number of the worse crimes. In many dictatorial regimes world-wide the capital pain is issued also for common crimes like stealing, corruption etc. with the evident lack of justification in the use of the instrument; even in this latter case the number of such crimes does not seem to decrease.

So, if on the one hand the capital punishment does not seem to produce any effect on the level of crime and violence, on the other hand it is true though, that such a instrument is considered necessary when the social situation gets very hard to deal with. In many countries where the extreme punishment is normally considered unacceptable, the same becomes unavoidable when it comes to fighting a war or facing a nation-wide riot, in which cases the military laws take over and the most important matters are decided according to them.

In conclusion, we must say that even though the capital punishment has been proved not to be an effective instrument for fighting the crimes and the injustices, which sometimes it itself produces when misused, it becomes necessary in situations where the social order and the same survival of the State are put in jeopardy and the normal rules can not guarantee an effective response to the ongoing disorder."
