Make Your Own Rose Wedding Bouquet

A wedding bouquet is very important for a bride, it is scrutinized endlessly as she walks down the aisle, it is thrown for good luck to a friend, and it is a burst of color in your wedding pictures. It is a symbol of the colors you love. However, you will pay dearly for it from a florist, prices are usually upwards of one hundred dollars. This can be a large chunk of a small wedding budget. Roses are a traditional wedding flower and they are classically beautiful. They come in tons of different colors, so once the wedding colors are chosen you can decide what roses match or accent those colors-or chose white if your wedding dress is a different color.
Here are the instructions for making your own rose bouquet and ideas for a maid of honor: Purchase white ribbon about a half inch in width from any craft store. Then the day before the wedding go out to any department store, Walmart is a favorite of mine and find the color of roses you like, they usually have a great selection and they are approximately $9.99 a dozen. If you cannot find your wedding colors there, check supermarkets and remember florists are your last option. You will need two dozen fresh roses. Make sure the roses refrigerated and are still closed buds or about to open. When you get home put them in the fridge for about an hour or two. Later that evening take 18 roses (a dozen and a half) and trim the thorns off with a small but sharp paring knife. Be careful not to be too rough with the roses as you may bruise them and cause them to turn black. You may want to put some poster paper or cardboard down to work on.
Take the 18 roses and hold the stems together as tight as possible, very carefully and only touching the stems-arrange the roses into a round shape, tapering each toward the floor, so the roses make a nice dome shape. Have someone else help you tape them with some white athletic tape or scotch tape as tight as possible. Next, cut the ends of the roses off evenly with very sharp scissors about 9 inches from the buds. Then bind the stems all the way up and down with white ribbon and then hot glue the ribbon together so it will stick and hold the stems freely, but tightly. If you do not have a hot glue gun, then go to the wedding section of a craft store and get any pins with pearl tops and pin the end of the ribbon downward into the stems, make sure the sharp end is not sticking out where it could poke someone. Take that bouquet and put it in a tall vase (no water) and put it back in the refrigerator. Don't let anything touch the flowers or they will discolor.

For an elegant maid of honor bouquet:
Take the remaining six roses and do the exact same thing, but use an alternate color ribbon to bind them, something that will match the wedding party, but not white, which will draw attention from the bride.
