Default “Let America Be America Again”

America is the land of the free, the melting pot of the world, a country that accepts everyone, no matter what the circumstance is. However, in “Let America Be America Again” Langston Hughes writes how life really is in America. Hughes writes especially how America treats him and his brothers, the black people.
Let America be America again. This is the place where everyone is equal no matter your religion, race, or sex. It is also a home of democracy with no single tyrant ruling unfairly. No one is better than the next and no one has special treatment, supposedly.
People dream the opposite of the truth. They think there is a great place across that border or across that pond, where the hungry are fed and the naked are clothed. The wonderful America is where everyone is safe and free from abuse. Yet it is the complete opposite. There are people in the streets starving to death. There are slaves being bought and sold and beaten to death because of the color of their skin.
Explorers as early as Columbus searched long and hard for a land to be considered perfect. It finally happened, The United States of America. People left and right packed their bags and set sail to have freedom. Black people however did not have a choice to come to a place so sacred. They were torn right from their villages and chained together only to be sent on a long journey. Once they arrived they were polished and groomed and then put up for auction. Blacks did not own their life, someone else owned it. However, they were shipped here to build a homeland of the free.
We ourselves are held responsible for this. Everyday we sing the National Anthem or recite the Pledge of Allegiance expressing the freedom our country has. Everyday men put their lives on the line for what we call freedom. Together we need to stand up and change our country for the better. We shall bring back the dream we once had and make it true again.
Let everyone work together and make our country what it should be. Let the beauty of the plants the rivers, and the mountains stretch across the wonderful 50 states we call home.

There are some punctuation problems. There also has been a word or two left out (perhaps inadvertently).
