RonBee, might we be able to say that the forced relocation of Native Americans during westward expansion is a classic example of compulsory migration?
Without a doubt. (Specifically, they were Cherokee.)

The poster mentioned forced migration, so I thought it would be a good idea if he cited a couple of historical examples of that.

Let's not forget the Navajo, Apache, Blackfoot, and Seminoles! A very sad chapter in our history, RonBee!

Cheers,

Thanks guys!

Anyway, I just gave the essay to my teacher and hopefully he would love it.

Your comments and suggestions are really helpful.

Thanks mates!

From now on, just make this thread as a discussion.

Sorry mate. I didn't know that the allowing option is off.

Indeed! There was, in fact, more than one such forced relocation. What is probably the most famous of them is known as "The Trail of Tears".

Well, it already is a discussion, but maybe we can look at the essay some more. Let's see how good we can make it.

I hope you came up with a different first sentence. In fact, we may finish the essay before we decide what the first sentence should be.

True, but isn't that rather obvious?

Not only humans migrate, but animals do too. It's called animal migration. And it's fairly common. (Notably: the caribou in North America and several bird species.)
That might be interesting, but I doubt that it is relevant to your essay. Did you keep it in or take it out?

People move to make a better life for themselves and their families. Sometimes they have no choice but to move.

Can you name one of the most significant migrations of the twentieth century?

There are several reasons for migration: wars, famine, natural disasters, a desire for a better life.
