I’m translating an article on cacao and this sentence is complete disaster! :( Could you, please, help me to formulate the idea below.

Nowadays, nobody could tell for sure who was the first person to taste chocolate as well as when and where it happened.

There is 'brushing up' the literal translation of the Russian, and others will help you with that.

One other possibility, though, is making it less prosaic:

Just who first tasted chocolate, and when and where, is lost to history.

No one knows who first tasted cocoa, much less when or where the discovery took place.

I'd go with susies' - she has kept true to the original but lifted it out of the prosaic!

(though use 'chocolate', not cocao, as I think you are meaning, who came up with the idea and turned the cacao bean powder into chocolate.)

I don't think you need the "Nowadays".
