Isn't it true that the Communist Party has in fact (if not in theory) repudiated Communism? I think so.
According to our textbook, communism includes two stages; one is the initial stage -socialism, and the other is its mature stage-communism. Current Chinese government claims China is at its initial stage- socialism.

It seems a shame to end a discussion when it is going well, but when they go wrong, it's easy to see the reason for the rule. Shanghaidid look full-on capitalist but you didn't have to scratch far beneath to see that the system was very different from the capitalism we know.
