China, officially called People Republic of China or you say China for short, is one of greatest countries in the world. Beijing is China’s capital. China, the fourth biggest country, is located in East Asia bordering many countries such as Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Bhutan Russia, Vietnam, Loa, Burma, Nepal, India, North Korea, and Mongolia. Compared to the United States, China is slightly smaller. It is 9,571,300 km2 or 3,695,500 sq mi. The population reached 1,306,313,800 by the year 2005 and it is the only one county in the world that has One Child Policy in an effort to slow down the population growth. ( Microsoft Encarta Premium 2006). China is well known not only because it is a big country by large population but also because it’s thousands years old civilization.
China is similar to the United States in terms of the weather conditions. Asian Monsoon control China’s climate. Typhoons are common between July and November (The rainy season). Mountains make up about one-third of China’s area. (World book). China has 22 provinces and 5 autonomous zones including Hong Kong and Macao which used to be under the control of Britain and Portugal. As a country with many languages and hundreds of ethnic groups, Mandarin is considered as official language and only 55 ethnic groups are officially recognized.
After coming to power in 1949, The People’s Republic of China was founded by Mao Zedong, then the China Communist Party’s leader (CCP). Under the communist regime, China has dramatically changed. China, however, encountered so many obstacles that time. Foreign visitors were not allowed to visit China until 1970. The Great Wall of China is one of the most famous tourist sites. The Palace Museum (the palace for ex-royal family) is also a popular place to visit.

The Chinese Economy grew slowly, so did the development of the country. Shortly after taking office in late 1970s, Deng Xiaoping who is Mao’s successor launched the economic reformation. Reformer Deng decided to start the first Free Market Reformation ever in China’s history and welcome all foreign investments. The Chinese economy has changed and rapidly grown ever since. In 2001, China became a member of World Trade Organization (WTO). Agricultural product, electronic equipment and mine are the main export in China’s economy.
In the mind of Chinese people, Mao is the hero who liberated Chinese people for capitalism and slavery while Deng is the one who saved Chinese people from isolation and poverty. ( Art of Deng Xiaoping’s politic).
China is going to host the Olympic Game which will be stated August 8, 2008 although there is a protest by Tibet ethnic group over the freedom, human right and the Olympic Game. In early 2008, there was a snow storm which destroyed a lot of infrastructure made many people live without electricity. Further more, recent earth quake in Shi Choun Province destroyed a lot of infrastructure, slowed the economic growth and brought the death toll to nearly 60,000 people.
No matter what happened in the past and after decades of struggling, this communist country currently plays an important role in both political issues and security enforcement in the world.
It would be better to put each aspect in a separate paragraph. for instance, separating the tourism locations from the procedures of founding and developing the Chinese Republic and Civilization....
by the way, the red words r modified instead of the underlined ones.
and one more thing,,,
i was informed alot about China and the Chinese Civilization.

China is certainly great in terms of size (fourth) and population (first).
It is the most populous country in the world, and there are more Chinese every day. China is one of only two countries with over a billion people. (India is the other one.) That is certainly a lot of people.

What or who came to power in 1949?
Isn't it true that the Communist Party has in fact (if not in theory) repudiated Communism?

Hi! I am not a teacher. Here's my two cents for your reference.![]()
People's Republic of China is called China for short.China, officially called People Republic of China or you say China for short, is one of greatest countries in the world.
Comment: China includes many dynasties in its history as well as the current communist regime.
People's Republic of China = China
China =\= People's Republic of China
Comment:As a country with many languages and hundreds of ethnic groups, Mandarin is considered as official language and only 55 ethnic groups are officially recognized.
1. Mandarin is the nation-wide official language. Tibetan, Mongolian, English, etc. are local official languages in some regions respectively.
2. Chinese includes 56 ethnic groups rather than 55. The majority of population is ethnic Han.
3. As a Chinese, I never heard about there are hundreds of ethnic groups in China.
Comment:After coming to power in 1949, The People’s Republic of China was founded by Mao Zedong,
As far as I knew, none of official Chinese versions claim that. New China was not only founded by Mao Zedong. He was one of the premier founders.
It would be better if you say "Mao Zedong was the first Chairman of P.R.C".
Comment:In the mind of Chinese people, Mao is the hero who liberated Chinese people for capitalism and slavery
New China was founded on the base of a semi-feudal and semi-colonial society. Capitalism never really entrenched in China.
Shortly after taking office in late 1970s, Deng Xiaoping who is Mao’s successor launched the economic reformation.
Comment: Deng Xiaoping was not Chairman Mao's successor. After Mao, the Chairman of China was Li Xiangnian. Deng was persecuted during the chaos of so-called Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) launched by Mao. Deng never took the position of the Chairman of China.
According to the latest official info. from P.R. C., there're a total of 34 administrative divisions in China; They are 23 provinces, 4 municipalities ( Beijing, Tianjing, Shanghai and Chongqi), 5 autonomous regions (Tibet, Xingjiang, Inner Mongolia, Qinghai and Ningxia), and 2 special administer regions (Hong Kong S.A. R. and Macao S. A. R.).China has 22 provinces and 5 autonomous zones including Hong Kong and Macao
PS: I am not going to argue politics with anyone. You can take my comments with a salt.
