Default report of summer activities

My teachers, can you please check this writing for me. It is a report about an organization summer activities:



Summerna 4 is a multi-component summer program for university and high school students, which aims to make students understand their duty, as young, in their society. The activities covered Academic, Entertainment, and social areas.
After long time of planning and preparation, Summerna program was successfully able to occupy 40 young male and female volunteers. These 40 volunteers participated in planning, management, designing, documentation and communication with different institutions.
These forty volunteers did a great role to come up with an effective end result; since all duties, starting from planning and ending to small design work, depended upon the effort of these forty young volunteers. Volunteers did a wide range of different duties depending upon their qualification and abilities; like planning, managing, communicating with different institutions, documentation, designing, speaking in public, inviting audience and etc.
It is our pleasure now to show you a brief report about all activities that were held in Summerna 2008.


1. The Press conference
On 13th of July 2008 at Sharq Hotel, Qatari Student Network publicized Summerna program and the sponsorship of Qatar Diar for the activities. The Student S. A, the monitor for the conference, Presented A M, President of QSN, who gave a brief introduction about the Network. H D, the director of human resource at Qatari Diar, explained their pleasure for sponsoring Student organization and mentioned that QD is targeting students and alumnae and welling to develop their leadership skills.
A A, The head director for Summerna 2008, introduced the program for the audience and explained the goals and different activities of Summerna2008.
At the end, A M, D, and A answered audience and newspaper’s questions.


2.The British Night
Type: Academic

On 27th of July 2008 in Millennium Hotel , the British Night, an academic activity, was held with the sponsorship of QD.
The night started with a discussion with the higher Education Authority on the cancellation of foundation year sponsorship for Qatari Students at UK.
The discussion was held in the presence of number of authorities in the city; the British Ambassador, the head director of the British cultural Center, AM and Dr. K from QD, Mr. AHfrom Al-Fanar Center, Dr. HY, director of sponsorship office in Higher Education institution, HE coordinator of Alumnae and employment office in HEI, Mr. AR from commercial Bank and Mr. S M from General Youth Institution .
Student volunteers and organizers in the Exhibition “Once upon the time” that presented in April 2008 in LEEDS, were also honored for their magnificent effort to present Qatar, past and present.

3.Express with Qataries:
Type: Social and Entertainment

On 23rd of July 2008, Pizza Express at Landmark was entirely reserved for our female students to have their first field trip during this summer. The students started with introducing themselves to each other. Following that came the entertainment time for the children. Then all participants joined each other in making Pizza.

4.Field trip to Rumaila Hospital:
Type: Social

On 28th of july 2008, “Baba Langa”, the famous Qatari character for children, joined male and female students from Qatari Student Network to visit children department in Al-Rumaila hospital. The students were first introduced to the different departments of the hospital and were given a brief history about the hospital.
After that, the students spent time playing with the children and distributed gifts for all children.

5.Who Am I
Type: Academic and Entertainment

On 27th of July, AN, a professional photographer, presented a two days workshop for male and female students in photography “black & white.” Participants had an opportunity to present their photos later on Qatari Eyes exhibition.

6.Business Communication Service Series:
Type: Academic
On 27th of July, A one-week course in Business Communication Service Series started in New horizon center for our student from both gender. 15 students, some don’t belong to the network joined the course. The course was about effective communication skills that is important to use in business

7. Sugar Rush:
Type: Social and Entertainment
On 3rd of August 2008 , female students and both children kids had a field trip to “Krispy Kreme.” The Director introduced for the students a brief history about the factory and introduced the departments for them. The students also joined the cooks in making Doughnuts.
The students spent the other half of the time playing a contest and gifts were given to all participants

8.Faces Around Me:
Type: Academic and Entertainment
On 5th of August, AN, a professional photographer, presented a two days workshop for male and female students in photography“portrait.” Participants had an opportunity to present their photos later on Qatari Eyes exhibition.

9. A Trip to the Space:
Type: Academic
On 6th of August, our students had a field trip to Qatar Scientific center. After a tour within the departments, the students were given a lecture about scientific facts and theories about the space and lunar eclipse and solar eclipse.

10. Landscape
Type: Academic and Entertainment
On 12th of August, AN, a professional photographer, presented a two days workshop for male and female students about “Landscape.” Participants had an opportunity to present their photos later on Qatari Eyes exhibition.

11. Still life
Type: Academic and Entertainment
On 20th of August, AM, a professional photographer, presented a two days workshop for male and female students about “still-life.” Participants had an opportunity to present their photos later on Qatari Eyes exhibition.

12. Project management Course
Type: Academic
On 16th of August, A one-week course in Project Management started in New horizon for our student from both gender. 15 students, some don’t belong to the network joined the course. The course discusses all management skills and important information and details about project management.

13. Alumnae Night:
Type: Academic and Social

In 21st of August, female alumnae from Qatari Student Network celebrated their graduation in Rivera Hall. After presenting their final project, the alumnae were honored for all their effort during their years at university.

14. Union and Competition
Type: Entertainment and Social
On 23rd of August, female students had a day of entertainment and competition among each other. 45 female students participated in the competition from early morning.

15. Qatari Eye Exhibition
The 26th of August was the opening of Qatari Eye Exhibition, for photography, in Waqif Center for Arts. The openning was in the presence of a number of professional photographers and authorities, in addition to the participants of the exhibitions and students. The artworks are sold for donation.

16. Ending Ceremony:
The 28th of August was he ending ceremony for all summer 2008 activities. AA, head director for Summerna, thanked all volunteers and sponsors for their effective roll during summerna. AA honored all volunteers, QD and team of Qatari student Network magazine. Mrs. WQ from Qatari Voluntary Center, presented her experience in voluntary work and encouraged all students to continue volunteering to develop their skills and serve their society.
