Is the following conversation correct ?
A: Can I go early?
B: You better ask Nancy Ma'am. Do you have her phone number?
I have doubt of the sentence" you better ask nancy madam". I have heard people saying you better ask...........
So, can we use it the way it is mentioned above in our day to day conversation?
B: You had better ask Nancy Ma'am. Do you have her phone number?
I see...tks but I'm still not convinced.Using had means you are talking in the past tense and here B wants to say that it would be better that you go and ask Nancy. ( present tense)
In England you'd (you had) better is usual.
