When they spot academic books in bookstores, what cross their mind is difficult-to-read, with intimidating terms and boring writing style, though the book's topic sounds interesting. The history of academic writing to the public history has been so dismal that customers often puts down books right after they know the author is an academic or just stay away from academic sections but idle around popular-book sections. This has been for academic books a long-standing problem that contributes their low-sales and the stock reduction by commerical bookstores. That's why I am not surprised that the size of fiction sections to those of academic section is at least 15:1 disparity in a bookstore off the STV main road. It is quite pathetic that their potentially important works do not have a bit of chance to appear in bookstore but end up in trash.
