Default Second thoughts are best

I saw the proverb "Second thoughts are best" in my book today, but I have never heard it. At a guess, I'd say it means that one should think carefully - is that right or wrong?

Can anyone enlighten me as to the true meaning, and the story behind it?

TIA!

Shane

Thanks for that, Red5 :D

I'm surprised I could see that link; I was under the impression that Google's cache is blocked in China.
