Practice vs Practise & Advice vs Advise

Hi folks,

Am back again to bug you ... Infact, i got stuck with the words practice/practise... Advice/advise

For instance, i wrote, i use to PRACTISE(not sure whether i got it right) volleyball.. :-S

So my questions would be: Is there any difference b/w these two words?or are they simply the same? Similarly, when/where should each of them be used (if ever they differ)?

By the way, i'd like to say that this site rocks! Its definitely an asset for me since am a student.. Keep it up fellows!

It's another Br vs Am difference (in the case of practice/practise) - in Br Eng the -ice form is the noun, the -ise is the verb. A lot of people confuse these - and advice/advise (Noun/Verb), with the different vowel sounds, is a useful model.

In AmE, there is no such word as "practise" - no matter what the context, it's always "practice."

However, in AmE, there is a difference between "advice" and "advise." Advice is a noun, and refers to the words of wisdom given from one person to another. Advise is a verb and refers to the actual giving of words of wisdom.
