True, after reading his sequel, 1434, I don't take all of his work as very authoritative any more. But Menzies has many sources, and the Chinese anchors around NZ and South America are fairly certainly authentic, as are the Chinese loan words in Haida and other dialects. I don't thing there's any evidence Zheng He reached Europe, however, despite the whole book on that one.
