    Default Grammar questions?

    Would you please explaine the following questons?

    1- The baby-sitter, in whose care Mrs.Van had left her children.

    I want to know what the part of speech and the meaning of "care" here is?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    2- A great number of senior citizens have as active a life as those much younger than they.

    Whay does a life come after active?

    1- care functions as a noun
    whose takes a noun
    2- active [of] a life
    a life functions as the object of the omitted preposition of
