Vocabulary of Australian English

I've heard and read that Australian English has many differences from American English or British English in vocabulary but most of them are about their colloquial expressions. Is this true? Can I use all the big words of American or British English when talking to those from down under?

You shouldn't have any problems. There may well be some words, but generally these three varieties of English are readily understood.
