I wouldn't worry too much about pronunciation. Remember that Canada is multi-cultural, so you're going to run into a great deal of people who speak (Canada) English with an accent.
You were so right in saying this! Now that I'm in Canada I can see why you said so. There are lots of people speaking English with an accent. There are such a lot of different nationalities here! Most of them are residents, so they speak very good Enlgish. Our teachers are native Canadians though.
