What time does the movie start?


Which one is grammatically correct? Please provide an explanation. Thanks in advance.

The correct question is,

What time does the movie start?

The subject 'the movie' agrees with the verb 'does . . . start'. It's the auxiliary 'does' that carries tense. For example,

3rd person singular: Does she like cake?
2nd person singular: Do you like cake?
