There appears to be quite a large number to chose from!

Although I've never used a Google Dictionary, I do use Google Translate regularly to convert between Thai and English, but it does have its limitations.

I saw http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/gr...tionaries.html, they all are English dictionaries. I think I’m still unable to fully understand meaning of English words by depending on English dictionary only.

I also checked 1st - 20th links in free on-line chinese-english dictionaries -. They are not good as Google dictionary or Oxford advanced learner’s English-Chinese dictionary. Some of them provide Chinese meaning without English meaning and usage. Only few of them provide partial English meanings and limited usage without others information such as synonym, phrasal verb, etc.

I tried Google Translate at the same day of Google dictionary disappears too, it provides Chinese meaning only.

Nevertheless, I’m very appreciate you provide many links in here trying to help. Ton and ton of thanks!


Ksyu-k, I sometimes use Dictionary.com. It was very strange that Google dictionary could not pronounced searched words in the same day. So, I used Dictionary.com as one of back-up for it. Thanks!

Have you tried the free online dictionary, which is multilingual (including Chinese), includes both AME and BrE dictionary definitions, has a thesaurus, derivations of the words and a translate facility. It also has access to a Chinese dictionary.

On the English side, it searches not only standard online dictionaries but also specialist legal, medical and financial dictionaries, together with acronyms, idioms, an encyclopedia and even accesses Wikipedia.

Maybe that's the reason it is normally my 1st "port of call".
