'Competition' can be concrete: 'He took part in the competition'. It can also refer to people or entities who are in a competing business or sphere of influence: 'We must always keep our eyes on the competition'/'Even when they're behind us?' 'She's the best. There's just no competition.'

'Competitiveness' is always abstract: 'The thing he most liked about her was her competitiveness.' 'Your CV lists "competitveness" as one of your strengths. How do you think other people see that?'

No. The have competitors and they [U]face[/U competition. So it's C. When I wrote 'competitveness is always abstract' I wasn't saying 'If it's abstract it must be "competitveness".'
