Last week I wanted my teacher in esl help me with my essay.
I asked " can you improve my essay? "
She said: " improve or prove? "
what's the difference?

If you improve something, you make it better. If you prove something, you show it to be true or correct.

so what's wrong with " improve" ? " to make it better" is what I meaned

I don't know- I imagine you wanted help improving it- it's the verb I would have used.
