Default Adult Esl

Just wondering what your views are concerning which language learning theory to apply when teaching adult Esl learners...Ive heard Hallidays functional system is good, but not sure about any others...your thoughts would be interesting...

Wouldn't it depend very much on the groups, their expectations, needs, etc. I tend to mix and match things and adjust according to the aims and desired outcomes.
