I always hear people say : dude!
but I dont get it... what does that mean~??
is it something like " shoot" or "crap "?

In Google I tried for 'define:dude'. The link, http://www.answers.com/dude&r=67 gives the following meanings:
1. Informal. An Easterner or city person who vacations on a ranch in the West.
2. Informal. A man who is very fancy or sharp in dress and demeanor.
3. Slang.
A man; a fellow.
dudes Persons of either sex.

It means 'guy', but it can be used to show that somone is doing something wrong, or to attract their attention, etc.

and chick means Girl.

but these two are informal

I use it a lot, in the ways listed above but also as "shoot" or "crap." I'll drop a book and say, "Dude!"

It's like the all purpose word. :)

last time I heard it was when my friend asked me about my act score..
then she said "dude" and droped her book ontp the desk..

Hopefully that means that you got a good score and she was surprised, and not that you got a bad score and she was surprised. =P

Another way to use dude that I just remembered: as an exclaimation to something surprising or cool (or not cool).

"Lookit my new cell phone!"
"Dude!"
