It doesn't make much sense to me, but is the deopt repair an optional thing, so you'd have to pay for the 2-year version?

Two options are being offered, you may choose the first one which is '2-Year ThinkPad Protection with 1-Year Depot' or extend the service to '2-Year Depot Repair,1 Year Computrace LoJack'.
(?)
Lojack is the brand name of a system for locating a stolen item by using a radio transmitter hidden in the item. It was originally designed to help the police find cars that were stolen (LOcate hijacked cars), but is now also used to track other things, like laptops.
thank you~
Just a word of advice: always read the fine print of any warranty or service plan that a store or retailer is trying to sell you. Many times the original manufacturer's warranty is plenty of coverage. Salespeople earn a commission for each warranty or service plan that they sell.
