Words vs sentence construction

In my fanatical attempt to better my writing, words are always in the forefront of my mind. I slave over "is this the right word to use"! I am now speculating on changing my thoughts from word perfection to sentence perfection and clear understanding of same.I am still baffled by outlining. Now they tell me write more with less. And the word redundant always comes to mind.

George Orwell said that if a word could be cut out, it should be, which strikes me as sound advice. ;-)
