| Hi Monalisa , I think you would like to know more about using "were" with the pronoun "I" instead of "was". The subjunctive mood of the verb to be is be in the present tense and were in the past tense, regardless of what the subject is. Incorrect: If I was you, I would swim Correct: If I were you, I would swim |

| There is some disagreement about that, but I would say it is incorrect. If any phrase ever called for the subjunctive, it is that one. |
