Default Good news!

To all my Chinese friends on here, I'd like to offer some information.

The book Practical English Usage, by Michael Swan (Seen on the left of this forum) is available in Chinese language format!

I was in the book shop today, and I found it. What's more, it isn't very expensive, only 35.9 RMB. For those unfamiliar with Chinese currency, this equates to around 3GBP, or 2 US dollars.

I was a bit gutted (BE, disappointed) because only four weeks ago I purchased this book online from the UK - at a rather inflated price!

Anyway, you can find more information on this book here.

:)

Well, I'm not an expert on currency, but I do know that 13RMB = 1GBP, and 1US dollar is usually 1.5GBP, so it's not much money, that's for sure!

This book is extremely cheap in your country. In Spain you can buy it for 29,70 € (around 24 US dollars, I guess) Is everything so cheap there or it is just this book ?

I wouldn't say it's cheap, comparing to the average income of many Chinese.

Could you give us an idea of an average salary in China?

Here in Dalian, the average salary of a teacher is around 1000RMB a month, which equates to about 76GBP. :?

I was mainly referring to the people live in the country side. For instance, Shandong, one of China's coastal province, the average net income of the farmers is only 3145 RMB in 2003. If a family has a college student, it has to spend at least 8000 RMB a year on education. For the inland provinces, the situation is worst than that.
