please, explain the grammar structure underlined in the following sentence:
He could do anything except make money. I'd espesially like to know why bare infinitive is used instead of ing-form.

The basic sentence structure is:

He could....make money. An English speaker would not say: He could making money. The modifiers "anything but" don't change the basic sentence structure.
