Hi there!
Did you know that differences between men and women in prior knowledge contribute to gender differences in foreign language reading comprehension?
(That explains why my husband doesn't do the dishes when I leave him a note in the kitchen...).:-D
Anyway, this could be something to think about, when teaching English to your students.;-)

Your husband is right- the note is an invitation to treat, not a binding contract. ;-)

Or maybe he doesn't want to understand that language :-)
I certainly agree with you on that aspect. Men and women do have a different understanding of the world and they certainly read texts with a different pre-knowledge context.
Though, I don't really think that this issue will ever really be a problem in class.
