    Default question

I was listening to an old song (In 100 years) by Modern Talking, and in the refrain it says:

    "In hundred years
    love is illegal
    in hundred years from now/

    In hundred years
    love is illegal
and your love will not survive."

What's that supposed to mean? Is it a figure of speech, a trope of some kind, or a prophecy like portending an impending doom?

I made some changes above to give you the lyrics of the refrain. That's all I can say in terms of context...

The lyrics are here: MODERN TALKING - IN 100 YEARS LYRICS

To me, the line love is illegal seems to be in reference to this line, a broken heart in danger (of...never loving another again, even in 100 years; i.e., his love for her will last for a long time.)

Modern Talking sold more than 60 million albums. Wow!
