Default Searching for cute names for a kids game characters

Hello,

I'm looking for male and female nicks, firstnames, or names you'd give to your pet.

The reason for that is that I want to create a PC game kids could play and I need to give the game characters some cute names. So best something that especially children would like. I'm not a native english speaker and hope you would inspire me a little.

As an example, there's a nice Best Friends game, where Petey&Patty are acting. Eventually there are no restrictions on the language the names originate from, but it should sound multilingually somehow.

If you also add some little talking about how you feel about a particular name, how it's being used etc., that would be just awesome!

Ok, now forget the rules, there aren't any, I'm on pins and needles awaiting some ideas, what's being used there in your neighbourhood?

Thanks for inspiration

I don't know if this will help, but these were the most popular baby names in the US in 2006:
Boys: Jacob, Michael, Joshua, Matthew and Daniel
(The nicknames for the above would be Jake, Mike, Josh, Matt and Dan or Danny.)
Girls: Emily, Madison, Isabella, Abigail, Olivia and Hannah

Most popular dog names:
Male: Max, Jake, Buddy, Bailey, Sam, Rocky, Buster, Casey and Cody
Female: Maggie, Molly, Lady, Sadie, Lucy, Daisy, Ginger, Sasha and Sandy

Yeah, I've found a few inspirative names in there

I like Yolly, Sandy, Casey...

"Kiki, Puiu, Fifi, Yoly, Titi and some more of this short ones..." great candidates for the little dwarves and/or some sort of helper secondary characters that might appear in the gameplay (good spirits, not evil creatures)

nicks are fine, although from my heart I'd rather choose something more special, somehow those are way to typical I guess... but thanks for the input

Little Ane Waly, can that be a name of a little girl or is that rather a pet name? Could be nicely used even for a main role character, I like it...Just would need to find an adequate male counterpart in case it exists.

Also, since you posted them the google ads left on this page are suggesting interesting sites, for example this Baby Name Finder :)

Thanks so far

Thank you, some of the basic hard work has already been done, I thought it's time to get a little rest and think about the gameplay, therefore this thread ;)
