Why are you learning English?

Hello!
Why are we learning English? Somebody is learning it for his work, maybe some people do it just for fun because they like foreign languages etc.

So can you tell "I'm learning English because...."?

What about me, I need English for my work. I'm programmer and I work with technical English texts very often. Also I like reading and I want to read my favourite writers e.g. J. R. R. Tolkien, Stephen King, C. S. Lewis etc. in English, not in Russian or Ukrainian translations.

We learn English from elementary school. It has nothing to do with our fun. For getting a good job, for going abroad,for many other things.Now my work has relation to English and I need to learn further. Maybe learning English is just a need for me.

English is my first language, but I suffer sometimes from errors in my grammar. I am a tradesman so my work has never required me to use English correctly. I am studying simply to refresh my own understand of the laws of English, and improved my grammar skills.

The sad thing with you NES is that you don't have the joy of learning English as a second language. And other languages seem tedious and uninteresting.

Hmm, I'm learning English as a hobby, because I always liked this language and I like very much to sing in English. And to learn English it's a great opportunity to know different people and know about their culture, like the forum, for example.

I'm learning English because I find it both very practical and etertaining! I'd like to be an English teacher one day. And I love to learn about other cultures. Thus, I've enjoye courses in British history and culture at my college!
