hi
maybe u say waht a ridiculous but i really want to know:
PARDON is a formal word or informal. and what`s the diffrence between pardon and i beg your pardon.
tnx
"I beg your pardon" or "Pardon me" - these phrases are formal.
"Pardon?" on its own is commonly used and is informal.
Pardon me, Anglika.![]()
What a great question! Only answers are rediculous. Here is mine. I hope you like it.
PARDON can be both formal and informal, depending on how it is used.
"Pardon?" is a formal response if we did not hear what another person said and we wish them to repeat it. A less formal way to say it is, "What did you say?" or "What?"
"I beg your pardon?" has the same meaning but is a more formal way to say, "Pardon?"
tanx for your answers my dear friends
HI i think that pardon is more used than i beg your pardon. Between friends you can only use the formal one <PARDON>.bUT if you are talking to foreigner you can express you apology by using the second one.<i beg your pardon>![]()
I'd use: "What did you say?" between friends.
