| Yes, the expression "meet a new word" would mean that I was introduced to a new word. |

| I am not accustomed to using the expression "meet a new word." I would say that I "learned" a new word or "learned" a new expression. But I would never say that I "met" a new word. In a more slang sense, I would say that I "ran across" a new word. |

| I would not have a problem with this. It is colloquial rather than formal English. |
