It celebrated the birthday....

It didn't happen before anything alse,so there's no need for the past perfect.

In addition,

It (i.e., the party) was in celebration of my grandfather's birthday.

All the best, :D

thou good lass

In addition I would like to ask the same as in my previous post for these few sentences below

During the celebration, the granddad made some problems as always actually.
After we all toasted him and to each others as well and got our drinks, he run and jumped into, rounded and a one metre deep and four metres wide and made of inflated rubber sides, the basin but by way of making a whirl what caused a lot of the water to have been splashed outside. So the fireworks, which were located near by and ready for use, got wet and we had to take new ones. The granddad always makes such pranks as though he were 15 and not 79. Even though a lot of the water was splashed out we had to bring a glass of the same for the grandmother and the chair as well. My poor grandma remembers all his birthdays well. Too well, I would say.
Let me tell you that three years ago, when we also were celebrating one of his birthdays, after a while, we realised that he had just disappeared. We tried to find him in the house, then shouting but nothing's helped to find the granddad. Then we were going away the yard trying to find him in both the garden and the orchard thinking that he might have gone there to bring either some vegetable or fruit to us. But he wasn't there. When we got back and as we stood in front of the house asking ourselves what to do, he made a shout from the top of the roof. Of course we all got frozen with the moment.
But the granddad told us calmly that we now all were so nice for being ready to hear his poem which he has just written

neither me on the roof
nor the rest of the world
nor the fruit on branches
nor the birds in trees
nor the paintings on the walls
nor a poet in the heaven
could collect the words
to tell well how happy I am.

When he got down the yard he complained about our shouting when we were trying to find him. He said he couldn't have concentrated enough to write nicer lines what, as he said, was his intention. He also warned us about what could the people all around tell if they've heard such an uproar we were making.
And he apologized to the grandma of course.
