I am writing an essay and would like to know which would be the proper word to use; will or would

1.The proposed new welding process would also benefit from improved safety.
2.The proposed new welding process will also benefit from improved safety.

As it's still only proposed, I'd use 'would'.

Given that you used the word new and the welding thing ain't tested yet, you should use 'will'.
