What do these two animals mean about the verbs? I don't find them in my dictionary.

Octopus means :
Any of numerous carnivorous marine mollusks of the genus Octopus or related genera, found worldwide. The octopus has a rounded soft body, eight tentacles with each bearing two rows of suckers, a large distinct head, and a strong beaklike mouth. Also called devilfish . IT is called Octopus because it has eight tentacles, Octo>eight.
It is very difficult to come out of the grip of the Octopus.

Hi SUDHKAMP,

Thank you for your answer. Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I meant what the meaning of it as a verb is.

It is used more as a Noun. Say a Multinational company, which has many powerful branches, but it is centrally controlled.

That's the problem SUDH. The words have to be able to be used as a verb. (See the subject line). Octopus and shark aren't used as verbs, which is why I facetiously replied with aardvark (in case anyone was wondering).

Shark can be used as a verb.

Here's the definition from my dictionary.

Quote:

v.intr.
