Do you think that the day will come when ALL people in the world will speak fluent English, and if so could you try and guess when that will happen?
Never, I think -- because relatively few people really need to speak with outsiders from far away lands.
OK, thanks, good point.
As a native speaker of another language, I do hope people one day would speak a single language, in particular, my home language. Because I am such a lazy guy.
I do believe at some stage, though not in the near future, people would be governed by a single authority and use a specific language for comuicating purposes. But as to what language would be used at that time, I suppose only time will tell. History is always full of uncertainties.
I hope that language is Italian.
I hope it won't be Mandarin or Inuitituk.![]()
Wouldn't it be more fun?
It would certainly be more complex. But more fun? Why not!

Never, or I might say that I don't want such things to happen in this colourful world...
What will happen to diversity and uniqueness then? I know speaking English fluently doesn't mean that we will forget our mother tongue. But there's a lots of possibility that people might tend to 'abandon' their language.![]()
I hope every naiton would go on having their own language because language is as important as lindependence.Every language is unique and ıt mut be stay forever. But it is also important and nice everybody to understand each other's saying. In my opinion one day if only one language is to be spoken in every state or country,ıt should be easier one or at least ıt should be understandable one;ıt can be either English or any other language.Besides we cannot know when the language of english would be spoken by all people. It looks difficult..
