A friend. It may be peculiar to American English, but I've noticed that among females we refer to our close acquaintances as "friends," but all the males I've ever known refer to their close acquaintances as "buddies." I have no explanation for the difference, but 99% of the time when an American male refers to even his very best friend, he'll say "best buddy."

A go-between in a criminal activity. One who collects money and delivers it to a higher authority.

Depends upon the context, there are several different meanings for "bat."

7. Braniac

A very cerebral, intelligent person. (correct spelling is "brainiac") Someone who prefers to spend his or her spare time reading books instead of going out and partying.

8. Chicken

Again, different meanings depending upon context. The most obvious slang defintion is someone who is cowardly, one who backs out of a fight when challenged.

9. Cop

A law enforcement officer.

10. Dame

A woman. Very archaic; most likely to be found in a Mickey Spillane-type novel.

11. Dumbo

A stupid person. Or, sometimes, a person with large protrudent ears (like the Disney elephant).

12. Far out man

That's very cool. I'm amazed by that fact/situation.

13. Hunky

Handsome. "I only paid to see Pirates of the Caribbean because Johnny Depp is so hunky." By the way, "hunky" as an adjective is somewhat passe...

14. Iceman

A hired killer/assassin.

15. Jack-off

As a noun, a layabout, or goof-off...someone who never focuses on the task at hand. As a verb, it refers to masturbation.

16. Lamb

Many very diverse definitions depending upon the context.

17. Mugger

A person who accosts and robs you on the street.
