Dear all,

I would like to do a play on words with the terms COMELY and IT (=Italy)... I was thinking of something as COMELitY or COMELit... Do you think they are hard to pronounce? which one in your opinion could be effective?

Thank you very much

What do you mean by COMELY? Is it a woman who is attractive in appearance? If that's so, I think COMELitY is better. Sound pretty cute...

(and you got the meaning right too).

I agree. COMELY has only two syllables (as in come, with -ly added);and /kʌmlɪt/ has very little hint of "Italy"; /kʌmǝlɪt/ does, but it doesn't have much hint of "comely".

I don't see why it should be thought hard to pronounce; maybe it's a bit hard to read - especially for speakers of a language that expects one vowel to represent one syllable. If you have a web-site, there should probably be some audio saying /kʌmlɪti:/

Well, thanks for the compliment

How about creating a poll here, so people can vote which one is better...

But for me, as I'd mentioned before, COMELitY sound pretty cute.

A new thread in this forum wouldn't do much good, unless someone happens to be a web-designer, or at least someone who knows how to do these things (I don't). But if you have a web-site, or are developing one, ask your designer - who will (or should) know. There are various ways of getting a web-site to make a noise, and s/he should be able to select the most appropriate

Create a new poll? I think I did once but somehow I forgot how...
You have to look carefully at the upper part of the thread, and I think it supposed to have 'create a new poll' somewhere up there...

I'll try to look again and will let you know later...
