The free time I had Enya had that time .
It means that when the person was free they spent their time listening to Enya's music.![]()
you told me the meaning of this sentence ,but what about theOriginally Posted by tdol
grammer points ?
some people told me that , there should be an comma between HAD and ENYA , and that , the propositon "at" is omitted before that time , so the
object of the sentence is THE FREE TIME, and the adverbial part is (at) that time,"I had ,Enya had " serves as adjective part for the object .
What is your opinion ?
as this : The free time I had , Enya had , at that time .
I'd just put a comma in the middle. You can add 'at, but it isn't necessary. If you do, then a second comma would make sense.![]()
1. Yes, you put a comma after the first "had" but not the second, and you don't add "at".Originally Posted by AUTOMOON
2. The sentence means "Enya had that time" and "that time" is "the free time I had".
3. Another way of saying it is: Enya had the free time that I had.
Thank you all, I am all clear now.
I was just so surprised to get another explanation that long after. :P

Good to come back too! Yes, had a look at your stats. Compared to say, Englishclub, your site offers really good features - ease of usage, interaction at much greater convenience, a more open forum compared to a one-to-one exchange. Am sure you will keep growing.Originally Posted by Red5
