It's very expensive.
I am new on this site -- it's my first day but I took to it/ it took my fancy/ hit it with it (if it were a human being)/ had a smashing start/ had a flying start etc since I have posted a number of answers by now and am still hungry/ avid for more. English Idioms is my favourite field and they are what acted as an impetous in my trying to learn English while I was in Pakistan.
I thank the person who started this site whole-heartedly for us Anglo-philes (as far as English language is concerned only).
I got it right again.
Doesn't it mean the same thing as ''pay through the nose'' or is it said only of someone who has done something wrong and is going to be punished?
oh, only a finger and a nail would be expensive enough for me.....but ARM AND LEG....... what would the person want them for though??????

Hi,
In French we used to say "ça coûte la peau des fesses" (it costs the skin of the buttocks) to express the same idea. Other countries, other customs!![]()
