    Default Ben Johnson

    Hello!

Please tell me is Ben Johnson's play "Alchemist" related to comedy of manner or comedy of humour or both are same for the play?

Ben Jonson's The Alchemist does not seem to me as good an example of the comedy of humours as some of his other plays. I would not particularly call it a comedy of manners either.

However, there are scenes in Volpone and The Alchemist which look forward to the comedy of manners in the Restoration playwrights.
